Our Story

We are Ann and Frances,
a mother / daughter creative team who unexpectantly found themselves launching a sustainable fashion label in a global pandemic.

Born out of the summer of 2020 and bubbled up together in South West London, we started experimenting with tie-dye, crafting presents for friends and family we hoped to see after months spent apart. Ann brought down her box of old teaching supplies - dyes, old spoons, pots and buckets while Frances dug out some vintage tops and old dresses from the back of the wardrobe. With no real ambition other than to pass the time, just over a year later we find ourselves with an organic supplier, two full collections, a UK stockist and pieces shipped all over the world.

Ann is enjoying a long career as a textile artist, print maker, hand dyer and former teacher of painting and drawing at the Royal School of Needlework while daughter, Frances is a professional classical musician, opera singer, piano teacher and keen dyer in training, currently living in North London.

Kingsgate Primary School, West Hampstead 1991 - The first tie dye success !

Ann offered to help Frances and her class mates make a tie-dye quilt as a leaving present for the head mistress, entered it into a national quilt making competition and it took 1st Prize!
The class named the quilt -

‘Be Happy Mrs Rust’

Our First Collection

A/W 2020

Coming out of the height of the pandemic we designed each piece as a tribute to an aspect of life that we missed - art galleries, live music, family, dinner parties, London’s nightlife and holidays.

‘Waterlily’

Our tribute to the art galleries and spaces unable to open during the lockdown

‘City Lights’

Inspired by the rich nightlife of London

‘Slate Mine’

Memories of childhood holidays spent in the Lake District

‘After party’

Our memories of wine-fuelled dinner parties spent with friends and family

‘Into The Woods’

A longing for travel and unlimited time spent outdoors in the countryside

‘Glastonbury’

Our final top in the collection - a tribute to live music, festivals and concerts, temporarily silenced during the lockdown.

Since our first collection of six tops we’ve gone on to launch accessories, children’s wear, hand-made homeware and sweatshirts. All crafted with love, time and care passed on from one generation to the next.

Special pieces, made to last.
